Task 5

Great task call today. Another high pressure day though. Climbs topped about 10,000ft only but better than yesterday. First TP was to Stater, then back to launch, out to Lapila, then Aguila, then beeline to Ramon. It started out with some ass-kicking thermals at Crazy thermal waiting for the start. Finally it was on and we blasted to Stater with nice lift lines and then turned 180 back to Penon. Racing along I didnt stop much back to Launch cause it was so lifty, tanked up at launch then back into wind to Espina and then the long flats to Lapila. The flats were working pretty good and it was fairly easy getting Lapila. After that we headed East along the terrain and grabbed Aguila with strong lift coming off the South facing hillsides. Cranked up ther and then headed back towards Penon or the wall or Piano to try to tank up before crossing the mesa agin to Ramon. The last crux was getting to the wall or Penon. Lots of grovelling on sepreate lines. Some of us got in to Penon and took one right over the top to 9400ft. On glide now towards Ramon but have to float and fly slow over the mesa towards Sacamecate. Super weak lift required patience for the final glide. Lots of folks went down near there before the last 5km or so to goal. I stayed and climbed to 9300ft before my final glide screen said I had it on 9:1. I pushed on and glided into goal with lots of altitude with the lift valley. All in all a fun day, real XC flying out in the flats made it more enjoyable then flying over the mesa all day. One more day tommorrow and its done. Super fun, warm, hot, sunburned, adrenalin riddled week, estoy cansado. Peace Out. SM
