Monarca Task One

72km task today. Seemed kinda big at first since the recreational gliders were only 500-1000ft over launch when the window opened. With everyone off and waiting around for the start time at the Piano lz TP, it finally happened. Next it was on to Divisadero, Lapila, then all the way across the Mesa to Ramon, back to Escalera and then on to Valle lake lz and goal. Low cloudbase day, 10,000ft or so, strong convergence lift and winds going every which way. Andy and I had 70 km/hr going to the lake from Escalera, mashing the bar and going up. We arrived over goal with 3000ft. Around 40 people or so in goal. Ended up being a fun task and a good call by the committee. Everyone is wiped out and ready for some sleep after a big day. Peace. SM
