Butterflies

It was a sweet day today. Meredyth, Randy, Joe, Dre, Alex, and I all loosely decided to team up and gaggle up today and try to head East towards Butterflies or Toluca. Meredyth, Randy, and I gaggled up over Sacamecate and went on glide to Mesa Dolores. We managed to make the crossing well enough but it kinda got a little loose over there. Meredyth ended up getting it and picking a line further to the SE and in to Mesa D. Randy and I took some and then drifted to the North in the convergent lift. We managed to climb out of there in some real active thermals and watched as Alex dove in low to Mesa D and ended up landing. Mer topped out whatever she was in and headed in to the hills but found nothing and turned back to land with Alex. Joe was far behind and low and dirted near Alex and Mer. Randy and I drifted in towards the three virgins and hooked some good stuff in there and took it to Los Saucos. We diverged from there, Randy dirting at Los Saucos and I dove in a little deeper into the hills and hooked some lift and then pushed out just past Randy thinking I would land there. Drifting into the venturi before The Butterflies I thought I was done but a real nice thermal came through that I hooked and then drifted with the wind into the canyon where it was bouyant and then just past the Butterflies. I landed there in some trashy air over some dark dirt fields and then touched down just as I started noticing the Monarchs. The sky was filled with them. It was a good end to a really nice XC flight. I packed up and got to the road looking for a ride and a guy pulled up just then and took me back to Valle. Un buen dia! SM
