After a great Rat Race Comp, 6 tasks completed, we arrived in Lakeview, Oregon with blasting winds. Might be the standard around here.
Kind of a desolate place. Not sure whats going to happen here at Lakeview. The launch is very flat and not very high, 800ft-1000ft above the valley with lots of potential windy days. Lots of Tiger country (no-mans land) in the arid desert in every direction. Its never been done here before with this caliber of pilots to have the Nationals in a place like this, but we're trying to make it happen. Usually the Nats are in a ski town or some other high alpine place with good food and coffee in the valley below! Its kinda sparse around here. There's a Subway and a Safeway...and mud bog races. The sun is also intense at 6000ft elevation. Just think of the ravens and the dried out skulls sitting in the dirt with the wind blowing the dust around, roadrunner and wiley e. coyote, thats here.
