Hiking up to launch was more of a mountaineering objective today. About a foot of snow slowly greeted us as we arrived on the South launch. A cold wind was blowing and the puffy clouds thought highly of themselves. We waited on launch as these beasts puffed up a little too much. Squall lines formed, graupel came down, and the wind was blasting. The air just felt crazy. Shouldve known after reading the Thermal Index for the day at 4000ft was -4.5, Its spring.
Once in the air I boosted up to 10 grand and headed West to Seattle. Arriving over Boeing field high I had to watch out for the air traffic. Is there supposed to be some sort of laws for flying around these areas? I was so high over the lz that I started winding it up for the oncoming passenger jets going to Sea Tac. It was fun. I could see folks waving at me through the little windows and taking pictures. Shortly after I heard some sirens but just thought since I was over the city. Next I heard some F-16 jets flying kinda low so I spiralled down and landed on the tarmac. Some big Blackhawky looking helicopter touched down right next to me and a bunch of guys got out with M-16's and such. They grabbed me without even a question. They blindfolded me and bounded my wrists and ankles for what seemed like hours. In the chopper it felt like it was getting a lot warmer. By now it felt pretty damn humid and uncomfortable but I couldnt move and I was still blindfolded. All I knew was that I was sweating my butt off. They shoved me here and there all the while not being able to see. I was deloused and thrown in some sort of cell. "Whats up with that, dude?" I said. The officer said "welcome to Guantanamo Bay."
