Another day down South

D.Byrne gliding into "no man's land."

Tiger Mountain to Enumclaw. Some pics here.
Good cloud flying and strong lift provided many pilots the means to leave Tiger Mtn. Pilots scattered about on the way to Enumclaw and Buckley. Dave Byrne and I flew together and landed at the Enumclaw fairgrounds with Dave Wheeler showing up there twenty minutes later. Being our declared goal when we arrived, it took us a while to get down the lift was so plentiful in the valley. Kind of a long flight to get there, two hours and fifteen minutes or so. D. Byrne and I almost landed early just on the fringe of the watershed. Wasnt looking pretty down there, we dilly-dallied too long over the no mans land and had to backtrack upwind to find more lift. Luckily we did and boosted back in to position glided over the watershed to the power station and on down to E-town. Having to do a little glider wrestling over the power station from the shear of North wind and East flow from the mountains added to my overall enjoyment of the flight. Frank Henriquez apparently flew down towards Enumclaw but having to go back and "pick up the kids" decided to fly back towards Tiger and landed just North of Highway 18, nice work Frank! Thanks to Meredyth and Heather for the retrieve and Dave's friend for the free beer stop. SM
