On a spur of the moment idea, I decided that the forecast looked good enough for a Mt Si adventure. So I rang Conrad and Joe and right away they were game. Its good to have fellow junkies that you can get a fix with. Conrad and I blasted up the trail to launch with Joe a little late getting off from work but meeting us on the top. The wind was blowing straight in. No I mean really straight in not like the usual "straight in." Lots of fog mixed with some sun, clouds and some light winds coming was a perfect condition to launch. BTW, I have never flown off of Mt. Si in anything other then rain, cross-wind, fog, and clouds passing by. But this time it was straight in at about 5 mph. The limited amount of visibilty was the norm so Conrad launched off (being the first time he has flown off there, the initiation calls for launching first, plus it helps when someone can assist with laying out the glider on this launch) no problem and disappeared in the foggy maw. Joe was next and we saw a slight opening in the clouds to go. He was gone. Lastly, I launched off into a nice little cycle. Incredibly enough, Joe and I were ridge soaring the entire West face of Mt Si at around launch level. We climbed out on the NW buttress of the peak and climbed up another 800-1000ft over launch. Incredible and super smooth. We flew in and out of some clouds with the lift everywhere. I shot a bunch of images until my battery ran dry. The sun poked out and the lift slowly died out after about 45 minutes or so ridge soaring. Conrad was down waiting for us. After going mostly numb, I left out over the valley and landed with Joe in tow with giant grins on our faces and frozen hands and feet in the lz. Perhaps, the best conditions I have flown from Mt Si.
