Task 3 very short flight or very long

143km race to goal. Same route as yesterday but over double the distance. So far only 20 pilots reported had made the first turnpoint. Most of us couldnt climb out high enough and get away from launch to go over the back in strong South winds and in the lee. Many of us were surprised by the same task called as yesterday but way longer. Why not make the course easier at the beginning and harder towards the end? I think the task committee wants to break last years Nationals record of 125km's. So, that being said this seems to be a competition about breaking records, or so it seems the committee is bent on doing. Although, two of the committee members landed in or near the LZ with the rest of us. The winds on launch were stronger than yesterday and many pilots chose not to fly. There was some thoughts of cancelling the task by some of the pilots but the meet director tried to get us off the hill before any concerns were voiced and before it got worse. Dangerous. Anyway, I wont be surprised if a few pilots make it to goal though. Tommorrow looks very windy and perhaps the following day. Tonights goal is to find something to eat around here that doesnt have a pint of grease poured on top of it. SM
